Charlotte Powers
I’m a senior at Canton High School and have lived in Canton my entire life, attending Hansen Elementary, Galvin Middle, and now CHS. For the past two years, I’ve served as Chair of the Student Advisory Committee to the Canton School Committee, representing students across the district. Through this role, I’ve learned that leadership is not just about speaking up but about listening and creating space for others to share their voices too.
Academically, I’m a member of the Math and Science National Honor Societies and have been on the high honor roll every year of high school. I received the University of Rochester Xerox Award for Innovation and Technology, and my civics project on water conservation and hydrant flushing was published in The Canton Citizen after I presented it to local and state officials.
Outside of school, I serve as Vice Commodore of the Junior Yacht Club in West Dennis, where I help plan events, fundraisers, and service projects for more than 60 youth members. I’m also part of the CHS Varsity Tennis and Cross Country teams, where I’ve earned multiple varsity letters and captain honors.
I plan to study civil engineering at Virginia Tech, combining my love for math, physics, and problem-solving. In my free time, I enjoy sailing, spending summers on Cape Cod, traveling to new places like Italy, and spending time with my dog, Milo.
