The Galvin Middle School math department is comprised of highly qualified teachers committed to providing every student with a rigorous mathematical experience. Our standards-based curriculum is comprised from the frameworks established by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. The math department has made a strong commitment to the integration of technology into our instruction as well as adoption of a state of the art textbook series that is designed to challenge and engage students.

All Grade 6 students qualify for Grade 7: Math 7
Grade 6 to Grade 7: Pre-Algebra
All Grade 7 students qualify for Grade 8: Math 8 Concepts in Algebra
Information: All students from all grades are welcome to join the Math Team. A team attends a meet with 10 students (maximum of 7 eighth graders). There are 5 individual tests in a contest, one for each category. Each student on a team is entered in 3 categories, and each category should have exactly 6 students from a team. In the sixth category, the team question, all ten regular team members compete toward a team score.
