English Language Arts

Mission Statement

The English Language Arts Department at the Galvin Middle School strives to help students develop their reading, writing, speaking, listening, and critical thinking skills in alignment with the Massachusetts English/Language Arts & Literacy Curriculum Frameworks, and in preparation for success in our ever changing world.  Our work seeks to provide opportunities for all our learners to see themselves in the texts we read and in the work we do.  Additionally, we strive to convey what Anne Frank expressed, the notion that “We all live with the objective of being happy; our lives are all different and yet the same," and we use fiction, nonfiction, discussion, media, and writing to explore that idea.
