Math 6 is designed to be a rigorous course that utilizes the enVision 2.0 Common Core math series to address the Massachusetts Common Core Standards. The Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks for Mathematics identifies five critical areas of focus in Grade 6: (1) connecting ratio and rate to whole number multiplication and division, and using concepts of ratio and rate to solve problems; (2) completing understanding of division of fractions and extending the notion of number to the system of rational numbers, which includes negative numbers; (3) writing, interpreting, and using expressions and equations; (4) developing understanding of statistical thinking; and (5) reasoning about geometric shapes and their measurements. Students who exhibit proficiency in Math 6 will continue to Math 7 in 7th grade, while students who exhibit mastery in Math 6 will be considered for Pre-Algebra.

1. Positive Rational Numbers
   • Add, subtract, multiply, and divide decimals & fractions
2. Integers and Negative Rational Numbers
   • Integers, Absolute value, Coordinate Plane
3. Numerical and Algebraic Expressions
   • Exponents, Factors & Multiples, Order of Operations
   • Write and evaluate Algebraic Expressions
   • Simplify and identify Equivalent Expressions
4. Equations and Inequalities
   • Solving & Graphing Equations
   • Solving & Graphing Inequalities
5. Ratios and Rates
   • Compare and represent Ratios
   • Compare and generate Rates and Unit Rates
6. Percents
   • Converting fractions, decimals, and percents
   • Using percents in calculations
7. Geometry and Measurement
   • Area of Triangles & Polygons
   • Surface Area & Volume of Three Dimensional Solids
8. Statistical Analysis
   • Mean, Mode, Median, Range
   • Box Plots & Histograms
