What is Applied Behavior Analysis?

ABA is a systematic process of using carefully-designed interventions to help students with Autism Spectrum Disorders increase their acquisition of skills and decrease maladaptive behaviors.

Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) are the professional staff who lead ABA work in the Canton Public Schools. They provide ongoing review of student behavioral data and programming, professional development for staff, and regular consultation with educators and families. The supports provided by our BCBAs may be grouped into the following categories:

  • Functional Behavior Assessment
  • Assessments for school or transportation refusal
  • Classroom-wide behavior support
  • Individualized behavior support
  • Consult to academic instruction
  • Parent training
