All public school workers must complete a criminal background check prior to beginning employment.

Massachusetts General Laws chapter 71, section 38R

Steps to take

  1. Find an IdentoGo location
  2. Schedule an appointment
  3. Read the SAFIS Registration Guide
  4. Sign the Background Checks Acknowledgment form
  5. Gather acceptable forms of identification
  6. Read the legal FAQs on background checks
  7. Change, correct, or update your national criminal history record response
  8. Provide a copy of your fingerprinting receipt to the HR office if you are a staff person
  9. PARENT VOLUNTEERS: Provide a copy of your fingerprinting receipt to the school's Administrative Assistant, or send them an email letting them know you completed fingerprinting.

Done this before?

If you have already been fingerprinted for another Massachusetts school district, ask that district to send Canton a suitability determination letter.
