Dear Canton Public School Families and Staff:

In alignment with Governor Baker’s guidance from his Press Conference on Tuesday, March 10, 2020, and Jeff Riley, Department of Elementary and Secondary Commissioner’s requests, the Canton school district is canceling and/or postponing the following events. 

In every case, Principals and their teacher-leaders for these events will be contacting families of students planning to participate to outline the next steps and if applicable, the travel companies’ refund and cancellation policies.

Blood Drive at CHS, March 13, 2020 – POSTPONED, Date TBD

CHS SAT, March 14, 2020 – POSTPONED, Date TBD, in collaboration with the College Board. More information to follow.

CHS Performing Arts trip to New York City – April 4-5, 2020 - CANCELLED

CHS NYC Global Studies Event – March 23, 2020 - CANCELLED

ALL school-sponsored college visits in April – CANCELLED

CHS School to Careers Field Trips – CANCELLED

MIAA Ice Hockey Tournament Games – March 15, 2020 – ON – For more information please click here.

 

The district will share its decision on the following events by the date stated:

GMS 8th grade trip to Washington, DC, May 26-29, 2020 - Decision by April 17, 2020

CHS Leadership Summit in Europe in July 2020 - decision by March 31, 2020.  Parents are aware of their options for cancellations and refunds prior to this date.

 

We understand that this news will come as a disappointment to some and we appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as we work through this serious health issue. The health and well-being of our students is, as always, our top priority.

Details will continue to be shared with the Canton community as more information becomes available.

Though the risk of contracting novel coronavirus remains low in Massachusetts, please continue to be diligent with the recommended practicing proper health hygiene and precautionary measures to keep safe.
