Dear Parents/Guardians,

We are writing to you today about the distribution of food and mobile devices. Last night, Gov. Charlie Baker announced that all schools will be closed through April 6,2020. Given this recent adjustment to our school closure, we are working to gather resources for families on many levels. The following plan has been developed to make lunches and Chromebooks available to students during the school closure.

Food Services: On a daily basis we will offer “grab and go” lunches to students. These lunches can be picked up beginning Tuesday, between the hours of 11am -1pm at the Canton High School cafeteria. Lunches can be picked up by entering the glass door in the cafeteria in the alleyway between the high school and the Rodman Building. Students and families picking up lunches may not remain on the premises for more time than it takes to pick up the lunch bag. Our goal is to provide food while maintaining the social distancing required by our Governor. Lunch service is for Canton school age children and will continue until further notice.

Chromebooks: In addition, we want to support our students in grades K-12 who may not have access to a device for school use at home. The district will have Chromebooks available for loan to students while school is closed. Please click here to notify us by 12:00 PM on Tuesday, March 17th, if your student will need a device. Please note: students are only able to log in to their Canton Public Schools assigned Google accounts from these devices. We have scheduled the Chromebook distribution between the hours of 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 19 at the Canton High School main lobby. The devices have been cleaned and are ready for use. Please note, students must be accompanied by a parent/guardian in order to sign out a Chromebook and Chromebooks must be returned upon the reopening of school.

If you are in need of a lunch or a device and cannot pick them up, please contact your Principal and they will relay the necessary information. With that information, we will work with you to figure out an alternative plan.

Sincerely,

Jennifer-Fischer Mueller, Ed.D
Superintendent of Schools
