German Exchange Canton-Bocholt GAPP (German-American Partnership Program)
Due to COVID-19, our GAPP program will be a GAVE program (German American Virtual Exchange) until further notice. Once we are able to resume travel, we will continue our GAPP program with our sister school in Bocholt.
Below you will find a news story about our pre-COVID-19 2019 fall exchange.
The Canton High School German Exchange Program welcomed 20 German exchange students again this year for a three-week exchange. Canton students had the opportunity to get to know the German students during their German classes and through various organized activities.
On behalf of the German Exchange teachers, Frau Nicolovius and Herr Holm, we would like to thank all the host families for their generosity during the exhange. As the German students shared at our farewell dinner on October 23, you made the students feel like a part of your family. Our Bocholt students are now back in Germany and are already talking about the Canton students visit this coming spring 2020. Canton students interested in participating in the spring 2020 exchange should be present German language students and/or have hosted a German exchange student. Students interested in traveling to Germany with the prestigious GAPP Program in their junior or senior year are encouraged to enroll in German in the ninth grade.
We are already in the process of coordinating our 2020 October exchange. If you are interested in hosting a German student next October, please email Heidi Olson (email@example.com) and include "German Exchange Hosting" in the memo area. We are also in need of parent volunteers to help coordinate field trips, the welcome event, and the farewell dinner.
