After a thorough search and rigorous interview process, I am pleased to announce Yeshi Gaskin Lamour as the next Principal of the Dean S. Luce Elementary School.

Yeshi Gaskin Lamour

Incoming Principal,
Dean S. Luce Elementary School

Mrs. Lamour served most recently as Principal of the Holmes Innovation School in the Boston Public Schools for the past six years. Her prior experience includes six years as a teacher in fully-inclusive classrooms in the second and fourth grades, teacher leader, Coordinator of Special Education and Student Support, and math teacher in grades 11 and 12.

Mrs. Lamour earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Management from Lesley University and her Master of Education degree in Urban Elementary and Special Education from Boston College, where she was a recipient of the Donovan Urban Teaching Scholar award.  She has completed both the Principal Residency Network in advanced school leadership at Northeastern University and the Lynch Leadership Academy at Boston College. Mrs. Lamour is an alumna of the Boston Latin School.

In her downtime, Mrs. Lamour is an avid snowboarder, reader of realistic fiction, and world traveler. She resides in Canton.

Canton Public Schools developed a candidate profile for the Luce Principal search after consulting with staff, families, and students. The profile identifies the major themes that ermerged from these stakeholder groups around the skills, qualities, and experience most imortant in a successful candidate.

Community involvement in the process

Conversations

The Luce parent/guardian community and the Luce staff each participated in two discussions with Search Commitee Co-Chairs Superntedent Fischer-Mueller and Assistant Superintendent Kinsella. The conversations were focused on soliciting input about the skills and experiences most desired in the next Luce Principal.

 

Survey

In addition, a survey was open to all Luce staff and families to share their thoughts about what was needed most in a new Principal. Results from both the conversations and the survey are informing a candidate profile that will guide the Search Committee's review of applications.
