Lt. Peter M. Hansen

Lt. Peter Mykal Hansen
1945-1967

Peter Hansen attended Dean S. Luce School, Canton Junior High, and Canton High School, from which he graduated in 1963. Two years later, Peter enlisted in the Army. He received his basic training at Fort Dix, New Jersey and graduated from Officers Candidate School at Fort Knox, Kentucky.

Lt. Hansen volunteered for duty in Vietnam, where he served honorably from August-November 1967. In November of that year, Lt. Hansen was killed when moving his platoon on a mission.

Peter was an outstanding soldier and an exemplary leader. His courage on the battlefield was known to all. But more important than this, he was a friend to all who knew him. His warm personality and genuine concern for all men will long be remembered by both officers and enlisted men alike.
