Language Arts

                 Welcome to Grade Two!!!

    We are all adjusting to the routines of second grade and  trying to keeping everyone on task!  We have read a story from our anthology titled Matthew and Tilly.  We talked about friendship and getting along and I was amazed at how everyone could add to the discussion about friendship and being kind to others.  We are also splitting our reading time in Guided Reading groups.  This allows the children to work in smaller groups and to get instruction more geared to their individual needs.

Daily reading for fun will become a way of life!

  In our Writer's Workshop, we are working on developing  paragraphs that are written with a main idea. Next we will start  working on understanding the Authors Craft of starting sentences with varied beginnings. . We will use our own stories to help us get started.. Hopefully every student will have some fantastic tale to share from our Author's Chair!!

    I have introduced the students to FCA's ...focus correction areas.  These are 3 things that we are working on in each piece of writing.  Hope fully they will master a long list of writing skills this year!
