Classroom Guidelines

Guidelines are important in every environment. They establish the directions and boundaries for a safe and protected classroom where everyone can learn freely. We will review together so everyone will understand what is expected.


  1. Have all appropriate materials and pencil sharpened and be seated when bell rings.
  2. Respect the people, equipment and furnishings of all classrooms you enter.
  3. Raise your hand to speak.
  4. Adjust your voice level to the suit the activity.
  5. Follow directions the first time they are given.
  6. Accept group and role responsibility.
  7. Observe all rules in the JFK student handbook.
  8. Always Do Your Best!




 
Before School Work "BSW"

Each day an assignment will be given to be completed before and into the first ten minutes of the day. This assignment will be checked together or checked by the Admin of the week.

Homework
 
Homework is a learning connection between school and home. Working at home and sharing information increases understanding of daily lessons.
1. Homework assignments are given on a daily basis.
2. Students are responsible for copying down daily assignments in homework notebooks.
3. Parents should check class website for daily homework.
4. If a homework assignment is not handed in, a grade of zero is entered into grade book.
5. If one homework is missed or incomplete weekend homework will be assigned.  Guardians called     after 3 homework assignments missed. (You cannot use a homework pass if missed assignments)
6. Completion of homework assignments is factored into report card grades.
7. Fifth grade students should read at least 30 minutes each night.

First time sign "Responsibility Notebook"
 
Eligible to be Computer Assistant
25 blue tickets = Computer Assistant on Fridays with 3rd Grade
 
Any time a student writes his name three times in the "Responsibility Notebook" he or she has to create individual "Action Plan" for correcting the problem.
Whole class free time (weekly) for compliments given to the class by another teacher.
1 blue ticket each student for each compliments=Class can turn in 25 tickets for 5 minutes free time

When "Action Plan" is signed and problem resolved student gets a fresh start.

"Responsibility Notebook" Each student has a page in the notebook. If a student breaks one of the classroom guidelines they sign the book with what they did. Any student who writes his name three times has to created an Action Plan to take home to be signed. Once the Action Plan gets signed the student gets fresh start. An unsigned Action Plan will result in parent conference.

Classroom jobs will be allocated on a rotation basis every two weeks. The following jobs will be posted on the first day of school and changed every other Monday.
