What is Wellness?
Personal
wellness occurs when one commits to the
lifelong process of developing a life style based on healthy
attitudes and behaviors. There are seven primary areas of
wellness:
Physical
(fitness, activities..)
Occupational
(leisure, financial..)
Intellectual (how
we learn, acquiring and applying knowledge)
Social (family,
peers, community..)
Emotional (how we
deal with emotions, finding our trigger points)
Spiritual
(Values, ethics..)
Environmental
Wellness
is connecting the seven principles to enhance the quality of
life and maximize personal potential.
CHS Wellness Program Description
The
Wellness Department is the unification of Health Education and Physical Education. Students will be exposed to a variety of learning experiences
in the classroom and through physical activity that promote
and encourage an active and healthy lifestyle. Concepts in
Wellness will be explored in each curriculum to help students
understand the importance of being a healthy and productive
member of society.
Students in grades 9 will take a complete year of health and
PE. Grade 10 will take one semester of health
education and one semester of physical education this year.
CHS
Wellness Philosophy
The Wellness
curriculum provides students with the opportunity for optimum
development of their physical, intellectual, spiritual, mental
and social well being. Learning experiences in Health
