Room 23 News
Happy May, it is a busy month for us. We have our field trip next week, Mexico a Cinco de Mayo celebration, math MCAS on the 15th and 16th, and the JFK Olympics at the end of the month. Mr. Sasin is looking for parents to help out with the activities that day, please let me know if your available to help. Also thanks to all who offered to chaperone our trip to the Museum of Science. We are limited on the number for each room, but we do have a second trip in June. We have finished our story that we started with our author Steven Krasner the students really enjoyed the experience and we have a set of his books in our classroom, He is a reporter who covers all of the Red Sox games for a Rhode Island paper Reviews and examples of his work can be seen at www.nudgingtheimagination.com . I am having the students do individual state projects to finish up all 50, this will be a project done at home, we have done 3 in class and they really do know the process. In school we will be working on biographies together and we are reading Charlottes Web as a class. We had an investment banker in for our Savings Makes Cents program, the students got a great introduction to investing and they got to use what we learned in math about percent. In science we are discussing living things and how to classify them. We built cells with Jello and candy to see how they looked and we will be looking closely at cell structure in plants and animals. As always please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
