Scrip is the fundraising program that works while you shop. Scrip is simply a word that means “substitute money” – in other words, scrip is gift certificates from national and local retailers. They’re the same gift certificates that you buy at the store. Many popular retailers participate in our scrip program including Marshall’s, The Gap, Shell, Stop & Shop, 99 Restaurant and many, many others.

Scrip participating retailers agree to sell gift certificates to our organization at a discount. Member families buy the certificates for full face value, they redeem them for full face value, and our school keeps the difference as revenue. And scrip is exciting, because everybody wins:

• The retailer gets cash up front and repeat business…
• You get a powerful fundraising alternative that involves no selling…
• Our school gets a regular source of revenue.

The beauty of scrip is that you put your regular household shopping dollars to work. You earn money for our school without spending a single additional penny. Just spend your regular shopping dollars with scrip at the stores that participate in the scrip program! And scrip can be used for just about any household purchase including food, clothing, entertainment, gasoline and even dining out.

JFK Scrip Program’s Rules and Guidelines:

1. All scrip orders must be accompanied by a check or money order made payable to JFK C.A.P.T. Please do not send cash. Scrip certificate payments are not tax deductible because you receive dollar for dollar value.

2. Scrip certificates are purchased on your behalf, and are not returnable.

3. When you receive your scrip certificates, open your order and verify its accuracy. In the unlikely event you should find a discrepancy in your scrip order, please contact the JFK Scrip coordinator within 7 days.

4. Scrip certificates are the same as cash, and should be handled accordingly. JFK C.A.P.T. will not be responsible for certificates that are lost, stolen or misplaced while in your possession.

5. You must sign the optional WAIVER OF RESPONSIBILITY box on the order form before certificates will be mailed to you or released with your child. These forms will be kept on file, and the Kennedy accepts no responsibility for certificates delivered in this manner.

You Can Now Fill Out Your Order Online!
It’s called ShopWithScrip. This website allows you to order your Scrip online up until 9pm on the scheduled order date. This is for ordering only. You will still need to send in your payment as usual in order to receive your order. This new method gives you the flexibility of ordering at your convenience, as well as where is convenient – at home, office, or school – anywhere there is a computer! Just follow the link: www.shopwithscrip.com. Click on “Get Started” and then “Register” on the left frame. Follow the directions to set up your account. You will only need to set this up once. The enrollment code for our school is LLLC31221315L. Once set up, you can go to “Order Scrip” and you should be ready to go!

Once you place your order online, I will automatically be notified. All orders will be compiled and placed by midnight of the order date. Please remember to still submit your check or cash by Tuesday, or the order cannot be fulfilled. The website also allows you to track your orders, and see where you have spent to date. If you like doing things online, and want to save some paper, this could be the method for you! If not, please continue to order Scrip as you have done in the past.

We are pleased to announce that the Regal Single Ticket is now available in a $9 denomination with an 16% discount.
This premiere Super Saver ticket is unrestricted and has no expiration date. There is a $1.50 surcharge applied if redeemed at any Manhattan, NY location.

What Is Scrip?
Gift certificates and cards for specific merchants.

How scrip generates revenue for you?
Because the scrip is purchased with cash up front, the participating retailers offer a substantial discount. Our organization buys the scrip from Great Lakes Scrip Center at a discount, and re-sells the certificates to families like yours for full face value. The discount from two to seventeen percent or more – is our organization’s revenue.

When can I order?
We will be placing orders twice a month all year long. Most times, it will take no more than 5 business days to receive your order after placing it. You will receive reminders of order dates in your child’s backpack.

Does Scrip expire?
There is no expiration date for most Scrip certificates or cards. In order to see a list of specific expiration policies, or fees charged after a period of time, please view the Merchant List at www.glscrip.com.

Is Scrip only for Canton area merchants?
No. Many of the scrip cards can be spent anywhere in the US that the store is located (Gap, Old Navy, Toys R Us, etc.) Scrip is a quick & easy gift idea for out-of-town friends and relatives! The distributed order form is only a select list of available merchants. For the full list, please view the Merchant List at www.glscrip.com.

Can people outside of the Kennedy School order Scrip?
Absolutely! You can submit as many order forms as you please! However, you will be responsible for getting the cards to those outside of our school. Just make sure you note on the order form who at the Kennedy will be the point person to receive the cards. The cards cannot be mailed. You can also combine orders on one form, and just submit multiple checks.

How will I be informed of any merchant changes?
Sometimes certain merchants have bonus times where they offer a higher percentage back to the school. Other times, some merchants may discontinue a certain denomination, or cancel altogether. In order to get the latest information, please fill out your email address on the order form. You will then be informed of any bonuses and/or changes as they happen. Another option is to go to www.glscrip.com and select “What’s New”.

Can I use Scrip for online purchases?
Only in some cases. Some merchants will allow it, but may limit the amount of cards you can use for each transaction. However, with many there are no limitations. Please check the Retailer List at www.glscrip.com for each merchant’s restrictions and guidelines.

Why can’t I use my credit card?
Unfortunately, credit card company fees and charges would take a significant portion of the discount savings for Scrip purchases. All purchases need to be prepaid with check or cash.

How do I get started?
• Fill out the Scrip Order Form with the Scrip you wish to buy, noting which denominations you would like. Write a check for the total, made payable to: JFK CAPT. Put the Scrip Order Form and check in a sealed envelope marked JFK CAPT Scrip.
• Send your Scrip order to school with your child to his/her classroom any day up until the Order Due Date.
• On the Order Delivery Date, you can pick up your Scrip order in the lobby of the school between the hours of 2pm – 3pm. Or, if you selected to have your order sent home with your child, it will be sent home in their backpack that day. (You must have signed a release on your order form for the order to be sent home with your child).
