Sample Prospective Student Athlete Time Line

|
Beginning of Junior Year
Send an introductory letter along with an athletic and academic resume to colleges that interest you.
Middle of Junior Year
Send a follow-up letter in October/November updating coaches on your junior season and upcoming playing opportunities (i.e. Hockey Festival, Indoor Tournaments, etc.)
End of Junior Year
Send coaches a copy of a video.
Summer prior to Senior Year
Visit, unofficially, those colleges of interest to you. If possible, call ahead to set up appointments to meet with coaches.
July 1st prior to Senior Year
This is the first permissible date for college coaches to telephone PSAs. Be prepared to make commitments for official visits.
Beginning of Senior Year
Prepare admissions applications for those colleges of interest. Send an updated resume, transcript that includes test scores, and a video to coaches.
Senior Year
Make official visits as scheduled and be prepared to make your college selection prior to the National Letter of Intent signing date in February.
Please be advised that this is a sample recruiting timeline developed by the NFHCA. Each prospective student-athlete's timeline will vary based upon her individual college selection process. We encourage you to seek the advice of high school coaches, college counselors, and family members when establishing your recruiting timeline.
